House Joint Resolution 113, introduced by the gentleman from West Virginia and the gentleman from Maryland would grant the consent of Congress to a compact between the States of Maryland and West Virginia providing for joint natural resource management and law enforcement at Jennings Randolph Lake. The lake was created out of a branch of the Potomac River on the border of the two States by a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project, and, according to testimony received by the Committee on the Judiciary, the lack of a clear boundary has hampered policing and resource management efforts, and the need for this type of cooperation between the States is particularly acute during the peak summer months. I know of no opposition to this measure and urge its adoption by the House.
