Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists committed an unimaginable act of terror, killing more than 1,200 innocent men, women, and children – including 46 Americans – and taking 251 people hostage, 12 of them Americans.

One spouse should not bear the responsibility for another spouse’s hidden income or mistakes, and the Tax Relief for Innocent Spouses Act gives the Tax Court greater authority to review the full scope of evidence in appeal cases.

I’ll continue standing up for American taxpayers and fighting to help them keep more of their hard-earned money where it belongs – in their pockets, not the government’s.

By unanimously passing these commonsense reforms, the Senate is making it clear that the American people should not have to pay the price for flaws in our tax system.
