“I voted no on the tax bill that passed the Senate. I recognize there are some positive provisions in that legislation. I will speak to two of them. One was in the area of education. Those are positive features. By raising those exemptions, we have substantially diminished the number of Americans who will pay any estate tax. On the whole, I found much more that was disturbing, much more that I considered to be a failure of vision, than I found to be worthy in this legislation. I hope I am wrong.”
