The better alternative is to keep doing what is working and to improve data collection techniques where they are lacking. To that end, I am proud to support an increase of $10 million, included in the CJS appropriations bill, aimed at improving the stock assessments and research needs for Gulf of Mexico fish stocks. These are the kinds of efforts that build real confidence in the fishery. I look forward to a meaningful conversation about how we can work together going forward.
