On the recordMay 17, 2005
we appreciate the chairman's efforts and especially the efforts of his staff to increase the number of Border Patrol agents above the amount requested by the President. As he could see, Members on both sides of the aisle have spoken to this issue over and over. I serve as a member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and may I have his commitment to work towards achieving the target of Border Patrol agents of 2,000 authorized in the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2005 and also recommended by the 9/11 Commission?
