“In 1993, they had the highest tax possible. They stole every dime out of the Social Security trust fund, even the gas tax. Does one think they put it in a transportation fund? Absolutely not. They put it in the general fund so they could spend more money. There was no hope of a balanced budget. Debts were destined to go up. The budget went beyond $200 billion every single year, but yet we will see the exercise here tonight from my colleagues on the other side to spend more money. Reject the amendments.”
