The number of veterans has declined by several millions in recent years, due to deaths and decreases in the numbers of our military, yet the problems in the VA and complaints by veterans about poor treatment and long delays have grown by leaps and bounds. It is definitely not a money problem because no department or agency has received the megabillions and high percentage increases that the Congress has given to the VA; yet, despite years of criticism for Members of Congress and the media, the problems have grown worse. The only effective solution is competition. I said in a speech to a veterans group many years ago that eligible veterans should be given a card and allowed to go to any hospital they choose, including those considered to be the best in the Nation. In this way, VA hospitals would be forced to provide better service, or Congress could and should close the ones with rapidly declining and/or very low occupancy rates. Mr. Speaker, our veterans deserve the very best medical treatment possible. ____________________

I am thankful, once again, for the bipartisan nature of this legislation. I thank Ranking Member DeGette on the subcommittee and Ranking Member Pallone and their staff for all they have done. Let's get this passed. Let's work with our…
I get to say once again from the House floor, ``Go Tigers,'' as I rise to celebrate the 2023 NCAA men's soccer national champions, the Clemson Tigers. On Monday night, the Clemson men's soccer team took to the pitch to beat Notre Dame and…
The fear-mongering from the Democrats is ludicrous. Spot prices for natural gas in December 2023 were only 53 cents higher than they were in 2016. We can export American natural gas, produce more natural gas in this country, and help…
At 5:19 this afternoon, I became a grandfather. My middle son, J.P. Duncan, had our first grandchild, John Waylon, J.W. Duncan, 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and you can tell this Congressman is excited. ____________________
