There is a lot of political pressure around which minerals are on this list or not.

In order for the United States to remain competitive in this century, we must have access to a reliable supply of critical minerals.

We know it is real. We know that it is impacting working people every day.

Now, climate change is impacting our state's natural habitats, leaving our coasts more vulnerable to natural disasters, and contributing to significant biodiversity loss that is impacting our commercial fishing industry.

That diversity makes us strong, but it also says that our policies have to reflect that diversity.

Democrats are prepared to work with Republicans. We have put our votes where our concerns have been.

This committee should be focused on how we can help the administration in those efforts. This should be bipartisan.

The notion that Secretary Mayorkas is working to advance cartel crime in America, as this hearing title suggests, is outrageous.

It is disappointing and the facts don't support it.

The American people want us to work together in a bipartisan way to solve the Nation's problems and to strengthen our security.

I urge once again that we take climate change seriously.

It is unconscionable that many of our colleagues are trying to slow that progress.

The answer is clear: We have to build out clean, renewable energy that will reduce emissions.

We have a responsibility to act because we are one of the highest per capita emitters.

The data is clear. It is not even complicated.

Climate change is real. It is costing lives. It is costing jobs. It is costing money out of the pockets of working people. It is man-made. It must be reversed. And in order to do that, we need to phase out of coal.

The NEPA process has not only remediated dangerous chemicals in an urban area, but has made it possible to open a community health center.

The important work of the Council on Environmental Quality cannot be overstated. And the attacks on the Council are just another attempt, unfortunately, to put polluters over people.

If China is going to Latin America and offering money and infrastructure and security, the United States has to counter that with more than rhetoric.

We are in a competition for hearts and minds across the region... we need to strengthen those relationships now.

This is a time for engagement and partnership, not hyperpartisanship.

Investing in aid and commerce in Latin America is not charity, it is in our national security interest.

The worst thing we could do for our own security is drive our Latin American neighbors into the arms of our adversaries.

It is vital that the United States strengthen our relationships with our neighbors in the region.

I will say it again, China has surpassed the United States as South America's biggest trading partner.
