I would also note that, of late, our legislative branch has been gummed up. It hasn't really been working.

I think the Framers intended for the legislative branch to--although we have a coequal branch or coequal setup of checks and balances where each branch checks the other.

There's a reason why the legislative branch is the first branch dealt with in our Constitution in Article I.

I happen to disagree. And I'm one of those who feels that a strong government can promote prosperity for all.

We really thanks to the American for all the humanitarian aids they are giving to the Syrian people.

I think whenever we talk about amending the Constitution, it's something that we have to do so with great caution.

I think we ought to be particularly concerned.

It should and must remain a cornerstone of American foreign policy, which is why the United States has a responsibility to respond to egregious human rights abuses.

This bill ensures that we take that approach, a comprehensive approach, to protecting human rights and to be certain that those who are responsible for human rights violations are held accountable.

All people deserve to be respected and to live their lives free from violence, persecution, discrimination, and oppression.

The devil is in the details and so this hearing is helpful in terms of understanding what we should be looking for and what we should be pressing for.
