I am fearful and, here, let me just go for the record.

I am very frustrated that we are competing with what was a very dynamic schedule over in the House.

It is the continuing ability for us to adapt as our enemy has adapted that is going to allow us to protect this Nation in the future.

The issue we are discussing is too important to rush through in this forum.

The service that you each have given to our country at the critical time as we began this process was vital to the protection of this Nation.

I'd like to welcome everyone to today's hearing of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence examining the U.S. Government's approach to combating terrorist financing more than a decade after the 9/11 attacks.

I think about a veterinarian as somebody almost a physician trained to take care of the welfare of a horse.

Mr. Whitfield talked about, discussing it as a chemical warfare.

I think it is particularly timely because we once again open up the pages of the New York Times and see a front-page story talking about the very real issues that are focused around the drug use in the industry.

So if one State won't abide by the rules, we have a race to the bottom, not a race to the finish line.

I wanted to come and be part of this hearing simply to be educated by what is happening and to understand better the purpose of your legislation.
