It involves disclosures and making sure when people make independent expenditures, like the independent expenditures that were made against Mike Synar and many other Members, that the American people have a right to know where their money comes from. The American people have a right to know who is funding this. And guess what? Both Democrats and Republicans behind this bipartisan effort, every public interest group in America supports this language: the League of Women Voters, Common Cause, Public Citizen, United We Stand. There is not anyone in the country who is fighting for campaign finance reform that does not support this language. Let us have a tremendous opportunity to take a bad bill and make it a heck of a lot better.”
