I will actually follow up on that question and ask Mr. Brown or Ms. Eberley, do you agree with the gentlelady's assertion or question that community banks should be exempt from Basel III?
Is there a specific work plan for this year, for 2013, to address the cumulative impact of all those regulations on community banks?
I agree with what Mrs. Maloney indicated that during those very difficult economic times this past couple of years, it was community banks that were literally holding the communities together.
I am also concerned about the FSOC's expansive authority to designate non-bank institutions as systemically important financial institutions (SIFI).
I hope Chairman Hensarling and Chairman Neugebauer work towards a conservative bill that ends these subsidies and refocuses FHA on its core mission to serve first-time and low-income borrowers.
Fannie and Freddie systematically reduced underwriting standards to meet government regulatory requirements and to curry favor with the political class.
I want all Americans to enjoy the middle class. I want all Americans to have an opportunity to move into that middle class by building equity, the same way I did.
