Bill Gray was a friend and mentor. With his unwavering dedication to public service, Bill made an indelible mark on the history of Philadelphia and the U.S. House of Representatives. Bill was a trailblazer and was truly one of the most remarkable public figures in Philadelphia. He was a proud leader and representative of the people of Philadelphia and a staunch advocate for the working families and those less fortunate in Pennsylvania and across the nation. In the House, Bill was the first African American to serve as Chairman of the Budget Committee and the first to rise to the rank of Majority Whip. I am proud to support this measure to name Philadelphia's 30th Street Station in his honor.
