I voted against TARP because of this, and I have opposed other government bailouts because I am becoming increasingly concerned with the Federal Government's new role as savior of all things failed.

I am also pleased that the section of this legislation modernizing the Section 202 program providing affordable housing for the elderly includes important language that I was able to include in our last Congress.
Both the rural and senior housing sections have broad, bipartisan support and, I believe, should be moved separately, to enhance the possibility that they will be accepted by both the House and the Senate.
