Mr. Speaker, what is this House going to say to Earl and Irene Baker, who came to my town hall meeting and told me about the 21 pills that Earl takes every day and how Irene cannot fill her prescription drugs because she figures her husband is sicker than she is and they cannot afford to fill both sets of prescriptions? I say, do not put them at the mercy of private insurance companies, do not make them write a $39 check each month to pay their premium and keep their coverage. Give them a guaranteed, defined benefit, reliable Medicare prescription drug coverage. They deserve it and they need it.
