I do support this legislation. In our T-HUD subcommittee hearing on Wednesday, FAA Administrator Huerta admitted that he saw no administrative flexibility to help the flying public, so we're giving him that flexibility now with this bill. The FAA blind-sided the airlines, the airports, the unions, and the flying public by failing to properly notify them specifically about the implementation of the sequester. They only notified them about 1 week ago about the specifics. That's outrageous. That's mismanagement. This bill fixes the problem at the FAA by keeping air traffic controllers working and the towers operating. This legislation provides the flexibility the FAA needs, and it should have been asked for by the administration. Again, it's a classic case of mismanagement, and I am pleased to support the legislation.
