On the recordApril 1, 1998
I have seen the problem firsthand there. As the gentleman from Washington has observed, I have first-hand knowledge of the special mobility problems in the Puget Sound region. The Fast Corridor Program was developed to address that problem. Section 136 of the bill designates the ``Everett-Tacoma Fast Corridor'' as a ``high-priority corridor.'' With this designation, the fast corridor would be eligible for funding under section 115, as you have already pointed out. Section 115 was designed with projects like the fast corridor in mind and I am certain that it would be an ideal candidate. I commend the gentleman for his initiative on this matter and for the leadership he brings to transportation issues in the region.
