We already have strong physical security and operational measures in place, and where the federal government is stepping back, Oregon is stepping up.
People in state custody with limited English proficiency should not receive worse care simply because they can’t communicate as well with the people responsible for their health and safety.
Oregon’s adults in custody are in the care of the state, and it is the state’s responsibility to ensure they are safe and healthy as they are held accountable for their actions, go through rehabilitation, and prepare to return to society.
