I want to congratulate our school nutrition professionals who helped make that happen.

If successful, thousands of children whose families still struggle to make ends meet would be cutoff from vital nutrition assistance.

The future of our country depends on it.

Congress must do its part to restore bipartisan support for vital nutrition programs that tens of millions of children across the country rely on every single day.

For the Federal Government to fulfill its responsibility to set the future of our country on a path to success, FNS must recommit to providing basic nutrition assistance to those who need it most.

It feels unacceptable for the Department to have evidence from its own evaluations that a program reduces severe child hunger and then nevertheless the program is cut.

When children are hungry they can't learn. Restricting access to nutrition assistance programs will prevent children from reaching their full potential.

All of these actions together reveal a Department of Agriculture that is not adhering to its commitment to provide basic nutrition assistance for the children and families who need it most.

We should all be uniting in support of these valuable evidence-based programs, yet under this administration FNS has repeatedly rolled back nutrition standards.

I think we should give the districts options to streamline enrollment in school meal programs and CEP is a key part of that.

Well, it is interesting, if we all agree that the Oregon Summer EBT Program reduced very low food insecurity, why did the Department decide to end funding to Oregon, therefore putting those children once again at risk for food insecurity?

It would be very misguided to try to address flooding--which is worsening due to sea level rise and extreme precipitation driven by climate change--by eroding environmental protections.

Like California, Oregon has faced horrific wildfires over the last few years and, unfortunately, it is becoming the norm.

I know firsthand the critical role that community colleges play in opening doors of opportunity because they opened doors of opportunity for me.

I hope that you and the Department will do more to protect the students and the taxpayers.

This decision directly led to student harm and those students, along with taxpayers, deserve answers.

Making sure that we are funding SNAP and Pell grants is critical.

We need faculty and staff that know how to help someone who is eligible for SNAP sign up for it.

We need to really honor that by promoting equity and safeguarding the opportunities for everyone to get a higher education.
