“That is my understanding. You remained here with me all last week inviting Members to bring their amendments down. We said we would be getting close. Who knows, we may even get a cloture vote, and then at the last minute hysteria will set in. Now is the time to bring them down and consider them. Let me comment on the great work the chairman of the transportation subcommittee, Senator Bond, has done. We need to get to it now. This is probably very likely the most important single bill of this session.”
