I am hopeful that Congress will pass legislation that brings financial stability to the Trust Fund for remainder of fiscal year 2009 and 2010 while also working on a multi-year bill prior to Highway Trust Fund insolvency.

I think it needs to be said over and over again by knowledgeable people, such as we have here today, on this overspending, overregulation, the damage that is being done.
Senators Vitter, Crapo, Alexander, and I sent a letter to Senator Lautenberg yesterday expressing our disappointment that Republicans' sincere effort to work on a bipartisan TSCA reform had been rebuffed.
There is no state that is more dependent upon the issues that are brought in this Committee hearing, and this is the reason I got on it in the first place.
