I did not have to think too long or hard about it because I have had a lot of experience with faith-based programs and people of faith. I admire them and what they do. I am involved with this issue because I am determined to see an end to hunger in America. My experience with faith-based programs in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio, in Appalachia, here in the District of Columbia and in other countries has shown me that people who work in the field are not just dedicated, they are inspired. They feel called by their faith to make a difference. One of the values of that calling is that it brings new perspectives and encourages creativity and ingenuity.
