I want to commend you for bringing this important timely legislation before the subcommittee today.

I congratulate her and the people of Taiwan for their continued support of democracy.

I have long said that this policy is nonsense and should be changed.

It is an insult to Taiwan and the United States should change this immediately.

I introduced H. Con. Res. 88 last fall. This legislation reaffirms that Taiwan Relations Act and the six assurances together form the cornerstone of U.S. relations with Taiwan.

We ought to change our policy.

I think every administration, from the Clinton administration to the Bush administration to the Obama administration has failed with respect to North Korea.
