I’m heartbroken to learn of the horrific shooting in midtown and I am holding the victims, their families, and the NYPD officer in critical condition in my thoughts.

Zohran Mamdani is a member of the New York State Assembly, representing the 36th district. Elected as a Democrat, he is known for his progressive policies and advocacy for social justice. Mamdani has focused on issues such as housing equity, healthcare access, and environmental justice during his time in office. He has been an outspoken advocate for the rights of marginalized communities in New York.
We are facing an authoritarian administration in Washington, D.C. We are facing a president who is seeking to attack the very fabric of this city.
We will redirect city funds from corporate supermarkets to city-owned grocery stores whose mission is to lower prices, not price gouging.
If there was any system that could guarantee each person housing — whether you call it the abolition of private property or you call it a statewide housing guarantee — it is preferable to what is going on right now.
The President of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp and deported. Not because I have broken any law but because I will refuse to let ICE terrorize our city.
I go into that room knowing that there will be disagreements, and also knowing that the foundation of it is a belief in the possibility of the city, and it will take a new kind of politics to unlock that possibility.
This is the campaign of working people. This is the campaign of organized labor and this is the campaign that will win in November.
As mayor, New York City would arrest Benjamin Netanyahu. This is a city that — our values are in line with international law. It’s time that our actions are also.
