when I ran for Congress, I said that I would never support a tax bill that did not adequately lift the cap on SALT. This bill does that. It increases the cap on SALT by 300 percent. I would remind my Democratic colleagues when they had full control in Washington, they lifted the cap on SALT by exactly zero dollars, zilch, zip, nada. There was not $1 of increase in tax relief for hardworking New Yorkers. To all my New York colleagues on the other side of the aisle: Before you speak out and say that you don't support a 300 percent increase on the cap on SALT, the fact is that this bill adequately addresses the cap on SALT and provides tax relief to hardworking middle-class families.
