this is truly an historic day for this body. It marks the beginning of a new era for America businesses and consumers that will result in the creation of millions of new jobs in the years ahead because of this legislation. Full and open competition will create new products and innovative services at the best prices for consumers. I think, most importantly, this bill recognizes one of our guiding principles, that competition is better than regulation. Mr. Speaker, I want to give special thanks and appreciation to the chairs, the gentleman from Texas, [Mr. Fields] and the gentleman from Virginia [Mr. Bliley] for their leadership in bringing this bill to the floor today. This is one of the most important days in this Congress.
