This hearing could not be happening at a more important time.

The Build Back Better agenda will make major, desperately needed investments in tackling climate change.

We need to make sure those activities are as transparent and effective as possible.

It is time for us to move from talk to action.

Thank you very much. My next question is for Mr. Salna, and it's about STEM education and climate jobs.

At the same time, as you pointed out, all of our children, tomorrow's adults, need to understand the climate crisis, and they need to be able to identify and reject disinformation.

When we talk about green jobs, weather forecasting may not be the first thing that typically comes to mind, but it's a perfect example of a career path that is both intellectually stimulating and essential for our future.

I want to thank this Committee for your leadership on climate-related issues to help protect Hawai`i from these threats.

To help do my part, together with other colleagues on a bipartisan basis, I'm an original co-sponsor of H.R. 3764, the Ocean-Based Climate Solutions Act, H.R. 3906, the Blue Carbon Protection Act, and H.R. 3748, the Blue Globe Act.

I speak before you today to request that this Committee make sure to include our oceans in your future climate work.

We must build an equitable future from the ground up, not tack it on as an afterthought.

Equity cannot be pushed aside as we transition to renewable energy and tackle the climate crisis.

This disparity in federal funding is unacceptable. We can do better. We must do better.

Reducing energy costs is especially important for families struggling with electricity bills.

Without every American experiencing the benefits of a good, healthy, zero carbon life, we will never be able to meet our climate goals.

If we need to urgently repair these systems, shouldn't we be replacing them with next generation infrastructures, so that these communities are the first to benefit?

I was very pleased to see the appointment and nomination of Shalanda Baker to lead this office, and encourage her swift confirmation in the Senate.

Schools can't do it alone.

The work that NASA does is so important in capturing the imaginations of our young people.

I really want to encourage you to think younger.

Joe Manchin while he speaks to being, you know, holier than thou and upholding our democracy and looking to save it. He`s really upholding a system of white supremacy through wealth inequality.

This is about minority rule and this is about power. You know, we have -- Republicans represent 40 million less Americans than Democrats, yet they are wielding a disproportionately amount of power.

If we can keep people organized in states across the country to push back against the corporate elites controlling our Congress, then we can threaten their seats.

This is why we can’t pass the $15 minimum wage. This is why we can’t pass common sense gun control laws. This is why we can’t pass common sense immigration reform.

The reason why they don’t support HR-1 is not just the voting rights piece, that’s a big piece and it’s very important, and we want to past it retroactively so we can supersede what’s happening at the state level. But HR-1 also gets big…
