“during recent congressional hearings, Congress has been made aware that military recruiters in various educational facilities across the country were being denied access to educational facilities. Preventing military recruiters from explaining the benefits of an honorable career in our armed services of the United States. Mr. Chairman and Members, that is outrageous. My amendment today would simply prevent any funds authorized in this act from going to institutions which prevent military recruiting on their campuses. The amendment is short and very direct. Allow me just to read the main body of it. The Director of the National Science Foundation may not make a grant or an award of a contract to any educational facility that has a policy of denying or which effectively prevents any of the military services of the United States from obtaining military recruiting purposes, meaning entry to campuses or access to students on campuses or access to directory information pertaining to those students. Mr. Chairman, we all know what kind of a strain our military institutions and personnel have been under recently.”
