Mr. Speaker, the minority leader suggested the possible alternative of going door to door. He knows and I know and all of us know that going door to door is wrong. It is just as wrong as offering a resolution which will shut down the process before it is completed. We owe it to those people who know they cast legal votes in this contested election to make sure that all the people who cast illegal votes are determined. Would we have liked to have done it in the first week of the contested election? Of course. Would we like to do it in the time frame that he is indicating? Of course. In fact, we offered an agreement that would have facilities doing just that. Mr. Speaker, the gentleman from Missouri also knows that we are not turning over the determination of who legally voted in California's 46th to the Secretary of State. He knows that, but that is a useful rhetorical argument.
