Millions of travelers will hit the road during the Memorial Day holiday weekend, many of them in rental cars. These travelers deserve total assurance that the cars they rent are safe.
Chuck Schumer
The Public Record
Chuck Schumer is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from New York since 1999. A member of the Democratic Party, he has held the position of Senate Majority Leader since January 2021, making him one of the most prominent figures in the U.S. Senate. Schumer previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 to 1999, representing New York's 9th congressional district. Throughout his career, he has focused on issues such as healthcare, infrastructure, and economic development, often advocating for policies that benefit working families and promote social justice.
This bipartisan legislation will require that rental car companies ground vehicles that are subject to a safety recall until they are fixed.
IRS should never go after anyone, should never single out anyone, because of their political philosophy or their political affiliation, period.
Senators Schumer and Boxer ultimately introduced legislation in 2011 attempting to address these safety concerns.
This legislation represents a major improvement in auto safety, particularly since rental car companies are the largest purchasers of new vehicles in the nation.
This is very simple. It says rental car companies may not rent or sell unsafe recalled vehicles until they're repaired.
We appreciate, especially in this political climate, the efforts on everyone's part to reach a consensus...
