They don’t have to do it; they want to.

Let’s be blunt: nobody’s forcing Trump and Vought to do this.

This isn’t justice. It’s revenge.

Every day that Republicans refuse to negotiate to end this shutdown, the worse it gets for Americans.

Every day gets better for us.

Every poll we have seen shows [the American people] want us to do it.

This is nothing new and has nothing to do with funding the government. These unnecessary firings will either be overturned in court or the administration will end up hiring the workers back, just like they did as recently as today.

We want the same thing that a majority, an overwhelming majority, of Americans want, which is to end this shutdown and halt the health care crisis that will send premiums spiking for tens of millions of people.

All I can tell you is the American people feel very deeply about solving this health care crisis.

After five failed votes, it should be clear to Republicans that we cannot go forward unless they sit down and seriously negotiate with Democrats to address the health care crisis. It’s that simple.

Trump’s claim isn’t true — but if he’s finally ready to work with Democrats, we’ll be at the table.

Look, Johnson’s not serious about this. He sent all his congressmen home last week and home this week.

The American people are hearing what's happening, and they are demanding that we address this crisis.

It's a Republican shutdown because they've refused to talk with us.

You know, they don't want to, Johnson doesn't want to discuss the real issue, the health care crisis facing the American people.

Well, look, there's a lot of difference between now and then.

The American people know that they're in charge — Republican president, Republican Senate, Republican House — that they have a responsibility to govern, which means sit down and talk with us so we can address these needs.

We've been trying for months and months to sit down with them and have a serious conversation addressing America's healthcare needs, and they've refused and refused and refused.

He saw the writing on the wall: his public safety cuts were illegal, dangerous, and wrong.

We fought back and won.

Johnson and a whole lot of his caucus don’t like the ACA, don’t want to do the extensions.

Instead of playing politics with the shutdown, President Trump should be working on bipartisan solutions to lower Americans' costs and create jobs.

Americans see it clearly: They know Trump governs by chaos and welcomes this shutdown — and that Republicans are following his orders to maximize pain. That cruelty is already backfiring.

Republicans have until midnight to cut the garbage and get serious.

Obstructing these projects is stupid and counterproductive because they create tens of thousands of great jobs and are essential for a strong regional and national economy.
