“I say to my colleagues, congratulations, your contract obviously is going through. I never thought I would see the day when I would look and the other body would be trying to clean up this garbage that we are sending over there. But God is good. It may happen. Someone said that we should really support this capital gains because it means jobs, jobs, jobs. Well, welcome to my district. Around this country we got congressional districts with 30, 40, 50, 60 percent unemployed, people without homes, without jobs, without hope. For God's sake, what water are you drinking so that I can come tell them that we are going to find the wealthiest Americans that have no problems and living in the luxury of this country, some of them we are even going to allow, to permit them to renounce their citizenship and pay no taxes, but we are going to allow them to get a 50 percent reduction on capital gains, not for themselves, not to get richer, no. We are doing this for jobs. But at the same time we are doing this, the poor kids around this country that like to believe that a part of this American dream belongs to them, you are cutting out education, job training and opportunities for them. Indeed if they are minority, and they ever get to become an adult, and are seeking a job that has been locking them out, then we say if there is any chance that any affirmative action will be there for you, we will shatter it.”
