Charles Rangel: “It is not working for Blacks. It is not working for minorities. It is not working for our country.”

Thank you, Mr. Chairman, for calling this hearing.

It is absolutely stupid to say that: Working gives you self-esteem, it gives you pride, it gives you family unity, it keeps you out of trouble, it gives you health, and it gives you what it is like to be an American.

I am for national health insurance, but that doesn't mean to me that wealthy people can't kick it up to any notch they want for any other type of medical attention that they can afford.

That is wrong---- Morally wrong.
