I think that's the best way to figure these things out. In the last three polls in Ohio, all three of which came out yesterday, the president was at 49, 48 and 47.

At the end of the day, it's the job of both the president to split from the liberal base of his party and it's the job of the Republicans to split in some ways from the most vociferous base of the conservative party.
