I do hope that today's hearing strengthens our partnership to keep consumers safe from unreasonable risks of injury.
I believe that that safety can be achieved in a balanced, reasonable way that does not unnecessarily burden the regulated community.
I do not think it is justified, and I think one of the things the agency has to do is consider risk.
If we inspire cooperation, rather than hostility, we will see quicker introduction of safer designs, as well as timely removal of defective products.
