Andrew Cuomo is an American politician who served as the 56th governor of New York from 2011 to 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, he focused on issues such as economic development, healthcare reform, and education during his tenure. Prior to his governorship, Cuomo served as the Attorney General of New York from 2007 to 2010, where he gained recognition for his work on consumer protection and public corruption cases. He also held the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001, advocating for affordable housing and urban development initiatives.
Did I make mistakes, some painfully? Definitely, and I believe I learned from them and that I am a better person for it.
We didn’t do these things because they were easy. They weren’t. They were hard, but they were necessary, and today it is necessary to launch a bold action plan to turn New York City around, to save our city.
I know what needs to be done and I know how to do it. Experience matters. Leading New York City in the midst of a crisis is not the time or the place for on-the-job training.
I am not saying this is going to be easy. It won’t be easy, but I know we can turn this city around.
And I believe I learned from them and that I am a better person for it. And I hope to show you that every day.
But New Yorkers know the simple answer of what to do when there’s a crisis in leadership. You lead, you act, you do.
