Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is an American politician and activist serving as the U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district since January 3, 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she gained national attention for her progressive policies and advocacy on issues such as climate change, healthcare, and economic inequality. Ocasio-Cortez is known for her grassroots campaigning and her ability to mobilize young voters, making her a prominent figure in the progressive wing of the party.
The extreme GOP platform has shifted to one that vilifies the Federal Government and its laws so they can put private industry, no matter how dirty, reckless, or greedy, up on a pedestal above the needs of the general public.
It is especially, especially stark to cut environmental reviews for the fossil fuel industry, the biggest culprit responsible for the climate crisis that we are in.
Republicans and their industry allies don't like NEPA, and they will push every bill they can to try to hobble its effectiveness.
I want to thank you for allowing the second round of questioning for this important Committee work.
what we really, I think, should be focusing on is the more than the $1 billion in the Inflation Reduction Act to increase Federal agency capacity for those environmental reviews, which I think would actually speed up time.
Our goals here are to actually protect and be proactive for coal workers and fossil fuel workers.
I think it was inappropriate for a Member to attack your extensive experience, just because you don't have an experience as a corporate executive.
All forms of experience are legitimate, and yours is very necessary here in this hearing.
