The current arguments characterizing energy independence lose credibility when you discover that the United States is currently exporting 50 percent more oil and gas than we did in 2019.

We have an obligation to make our public lands part of the solution to the climate crisis, rather than the problem.

Our public lands and waters contribute nearly a quarter to those emissions.

As it stands, the United States is the world's No. 1 producer of oil and gas, and the second highest emitter of greenhouse gas pollution.

The urgency to address Federal fossil fuel development is undeniable as we endure the sixth straight week of record-breaking heat waves.

Today's hearing is an opportunity to examine the Federal offshore oil and gas program.

It is important to have that data so we can get people the help that they need sooner than wait for them to die.

And for emphasis, since releasing the 2022 National Drug Control Strategy, what are some of the successes of the ONDCP's whole of government approach?

Dr. Gupta, how does the ONDCP utilize its unique cross Agency structure to effectively combat the addiction crisis?

Mr. Graves, one of your main concerns that the FAA currently does not have an official process to receive reports of UAP from pilots or others, correct?

And to put a finer point on it, when there is a requirement for any agency or company to--or any agency to notify Congress, do they contact the chairman of a committee?

I have seen it personally, and I have also seen the notification requirements to Congress abused.

I do concur with the Ranking Member as well as several other Members here on this Committee that this is a committee for whistleblowers and for the protection of whistleblowers as well.

However, we are also seeing today is an effort to find some issue with this prosecution, this existing prosecution, this is a person who has admitted to crime and finding evidence of political interference, a very serious charge.

It is important that criminal investigations be conducted fairly and free from political influence.

I think in light of the correction, and truly in good faith, these things happen all the time, right?

And so, some of the events that you discuss in your deposition took place 2, 3, 4 years ago, correct, over the last several years?

Yet 74 percent of Americans, Republican and Democrat, believe in a path to citizenship for DACA recipients.

I do not know a group of people that oftentimes are more patriotic to this country than DACA recipients.

DACA recipients pay for Members of Congress' healthcare more than Facebook does.

They serve in our healthcare systems, they serve our elderly, they are nursing home workers, and we are having a hearing today as to why people who are American--they are American--do not deserve healthcare.
