Well, I extend a personal invitation to have you come and to see, firsthand, both the needs in and around Nellis and Creech.

We just recruit talent. We need all men and women to serve that are capable of serving in the United States Army.

I was extremely proud when I saw Lieutenant General Donna Martin, the first Inspector General of the Army to be a woman.

When State and local governments faced historic shortfalls, we were able to make them whole and to preserve the services that our constituents rely on every day.

We were able to protect the payrolls of small businesses across the country with the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

We were able to ensure 6.5 million working families could keep a roof over their heads with the emergency rental assistance that we provided.

I want to say that I am proud of the votes that I took to deliver for the American people during the hardest days of the pandemic.

There can be no doubt that it is necessary at times to take a step back and retrospectively analyze the efficacy of our work.

If we fail to build climate resiliency in the Pacific Islands, key locations like the Kwajalein Atoll that has critical missile defense capabilities, we are going to be at risk of being able to perform our warfighting missions. Full stop.

Rising temperatures, droughts, and more frequent, intense, and unpredictable storms and floods have already begun to affect military readiness and impose significant costs on the Department.

I want to encourage my colleagues to work with us to help make the military more attractive to young men and women.

Readiness is about the quality of life of our service members and their families.

I want to thank our service members who played a critical role.

I would hope that if nothing else we can agree that our service members performed remarkably and should be commended.

The CHIPS and Science Act ensures that the technology of the future will be made right here in America, by union members with good, quality jobs.

We have a responsibility to our children and to the next generation to own the 21st Century as the United States.

President Biden and Secretary Austin took decisive action to protect our national interest.
