The public understands that this reprogram authority is not an unrestricted power to pick and choose funding priorities based on the harm to the public.

They want us to work together to solve problems and the sequester is a problem that needs to be fixed.

I view you all as partners. And I would just hope that we can change some of the rhetoric...

The people of my district sent me to represent them here to solve problems, not to create new ones.

I hope we have the public's interest in mind rather than merely just one industry's welfare or profit.

I want to get back to this issue of who should be involved in this process.

As we have heard, those in the oil and gas sectors believe that failure to permit foreign exports of LNG could severely undermine that industry and would ultimately affect current and future jobs.

On the one hand, prices are at an all time low. These low prices have benefitted the manufacturers, the consumers and household users.

I will work with anyone from any party who has a good idea for how we can get the American people back to work. Unfortunately, H.R. 803 is not that bill.

I believe that the Federal cuts, whether under sequestration, under what occurred in the prior fiscal year, or what may come, needs to be put in context with the cuts that State and local entities have already incurred.

I want to work with anybody that has a good idea for how we can identify targeted cuts in Federal programs that aren't efficient, that can be improved.

And I think, again, this is an important aspect because, again, sometimes people talk about Federal employees as some nondescript bureaucrat that is not performing an essential function.

It required both sides of the aisle to come together to find a balanced approach to pass a balanced budget, which is what we have done.
