Though there are a sprinkling yet of these heroes still serving, even in this Chamber, those victors of World War II have largely passed the torch to new hands. Are we, Mr. President, to let its light go dim when we pass it on to the next generation? We bear--we Members of the U.S. Senate--the same responsibility to those generations yet to come as we did and do to the heroes of that great conflict.…”
