Mr. President, today I wish to remember a true Nevada statesman and dedicated public servant, former Nevada State Assemblyman and State Senator Coe Swobe. I send my condolences and prayers to his family during this difficult time. Although he will be sorely missed, his legendary influence throughout Nevada will continue on. Mr. Swobe was born in 1929 and raised in northern Nevada. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno, after serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war. As one of our Nation's servicemembers, he made exceptional sacrifices for our country and deserves our deepest gratitude. His service to his country, as well as his bravery and dedication to his family and community, have earned him a place in history among the many outstanding men and women who have contributed to our Nation and to our State. Mr. Swobe later earned his juris doctorate from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He then returned to Reno, where he served as assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada for 2 years and began his career as a true public servant to the Silver State.
