Renewables and clean energy are very important to Nevada and many of us, and we are trying to find that right balance for the portfolio that we need.

As Assistant Secretary would you consider supporting investments in carbon capture research on natural gas power plants?

I think people do not realize how important emergency management at the local, state and federal level is.

Many times the emergency management services are underfunded or they are challenged, and they need more support.

In Nevada, and I am sure in many of your States, we have rural communities that are challenged.

Thank you to Chairwoman Collins and Ranking Member Casey and all of you here. It is such an important topic.

Federal agencies have access to this data that can help emergency management at the state and local level as well.

Now, there is so much sex trafficking going on, and let me just tell you, this is a crime that is so prevalent.

I believe Congress wants online services to voluntarily undertake efforts to block or remove third party promotions for sex trafficking.

I do not see how we can mandate a standard of strict liability when the utilities are prevented from being able to follow their management plan.

I think there has to be some liability, obviously. Somebody has to be held accountable to make sure that we are preventing any type of forest fires.

So what we're doing right now and what I understand is because the sex trafficking of our kids and adults is so prevalent, like any other criminal law enforcement activity that occurs, we are looking for the allowance of state law…

I appreciate the opportunity to explain Section 230s Good Samaritan mechanisms and how SESTA undermines them.

And this is an issue that we have to stop. We have to stop it.

I have worked as attorney general with my colleagues, and now General Becerra, trying to change this...

SESTA enables online services to be sued or prosecuted for sex trafficking promotions that third parties publish through their service.

And that's why as Attorney General, I signed onto a letter in 2013 to change the 230 CDA, and that's why I continue to support it.

I am hoping there is more conversation regarding this issue, and that we can figure this out.

I want to understand.

What is the timeframe, you think, for that?

So, Mr. Spear, let me start with you and make sure I understand what I'm hearing today, is that you would be comfortable if we passed Federal legislation that only went to a Level 2 authority.

I think for all of us, the challenge is going to be how we balance the emergence of this new technology...

Is VA discontinuing support of the system going to impact you in any way whatsoever?

I am really excited and interested in this space...
