I want Indian Country to be as safe as possible.

So are you telling me that you have open positions for BIA agents and you can't fill those positions?

And the reason why you can't fill those positions is because of a lack of interest, or because the salary, the retention, the benefits are not enough?

My challenge is with BIA, and this is what I want to hear, is if they are under-resourced and understaffed.

I think we have to do an all-of-the-above approach to address fentanyl that is not only coming into all of our communities, but our tribal communities, and address the needs there.

There is a comprehensive approach, we can work in a bipartisan way to address what is happening at the southern border, it is something I worked on as attorney general, to address the drug trafficking.

We cannot ignore the voices of Native communities in this fight against addiction.

It is time for us to revisit that conversation.
