Tom Udall is an American politician and attorney who served as the junior United States Senator from New Mexico from 2009 to 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, Udall previously represented New Mexico's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2009. Throughout his political career, he has focused on issues such as environmental protection, healthcare, and Native American rights. Udall has been an advocate for legislation addressing the challenges faced by the Navajo people, particularly regarding land ownership and economic development.
I would hope that that Tribal Office would see its mandate as reviewing all of these things and educating the Treasury Department, the IRS, and everybody within the Department.
It is well documented that we as the Federal Government are failing in meeting our obligation to provide health care to Native Americans.
So we need to put the resources behind the Indian Health Service. There is no doubt about that.
I just wanted to briefly, Chairman Dorgan, say thank you again for focusing on this issue, and thank you for focusing our attention on youth suicide in Indian Country.
I believe we must improve oversight, but in a responsible manner that doesn't over burden honest applicants.
Balancing future supply and demand is impossible given the geologically finite supply of oil.
I am hoping that you being able to speak and me giving up my time to you, that you may be able to persuade some of your former colleagues on the other side of the importance of doing climate change legislation.
