Tom Udall is an American politician and attorney who served as the junior United States Senator from New Mexico from 2009 to 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, Udall previously represented New Mexico's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2007 to 2009. Throughout his political career, he has focused on issues such as environmental protection, healthcare, and Native American rights. Udall has been an advocate for legislation addressing the challenges faced by the Navajo people, particularly regarding land ownership and economic development.
The Ski Areas bill that I'm describing would clarify this ambiguity, would ensure that ski area permits could be used for traditional snow sports such as snowboarding.
In my opinion, the National Park Service is the agency best suited for the long-term management of the Valles Caldera.
I hope that this bill will be reported favorably and enacted quickly, so that the people of the Northern Mariana Islands will get back the land that they have always believed belonged to them.
We appreciate the bipartisan leadership of Senator Webb and Senator Warner, along with Representative Randy Forbes, to expand the boundary of the Petersburg National Battlefield.
