They are telling the elders who have spoken this language sometimes for 70 or 80 years that they have to go back and get a degree in order to learn how to teach the language to the younger people?

My bill, the Esther Martinez Native American Languages Preservation Act provides grants to Native American language and educational organizations to help preserve dying Native languages in Indian country.

We want to do everything we can to ensure that the children in Indian country have the best education possible.
