If Reclamation were given the authority to facilitate and expedite temporary transfers, including non-CVP water transfers, without the need to execute a temporary Warren Act Contract, one of the biggest impediments to water transfers…
Jeff Bingaman
The Public Record
Jeff Bingaman is a former U.S. Senator from New Mexico, serving from 1983 to 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, he was known for his work on energy policy, education, and healthcare. During his tenure, Bingaman played a significant role in shaping legislation related to renewable energy and was a strong advocate for the development of clean energy technologies. He served as the Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, where he focused on issues such as energy efficiency and the promotion of alternative energy sources.
Thus, any proposal to block the flow of raw materials currently needed to produce medical isotopes, as does H.R. 3276, represents a serious threat to the health and treatment of U.S. patients.
I support the goals of H.R. 3276 to promote U.S. domestic production of medical isotopes and phase out the current process necessary to provide raw materials for the production of medical isotopes.
However, H.R. 3276 fails to address fundamental issues necessary to ensure that cancer patients moving forward are guaranteed to receive the medicine they need to diagnose and treat their illnesses.
We must learn from their difficulties and maintain our focus on the demonstration of commercial-scale Mo-999 production
If this bill becomes law, I hope that the department places an emphasis to work on the needs of industry to make this transition because, ultimately, it is the industry that will produce the isotopes that we need.
I thank Senator Bingaman and the committee for your continued leadership in supporting this legislation
Chairman Bingaman, Ranking Member Murkowski, and Committee Members, thank you for the opportunity to testify
the National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) recognizes your leadership in developing the next generation of national energy policy.
I think Senator Murkowski is right, I mean, the goal here, is to raise the price of carbon.
I've long supported trying to put in place a cap-and-trade mechanism to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
