I’m a single mom. I’ve lived paycheck to paycheck. I survived off of SNAP and WIC. I’m over 35 years sober. I started school later in life and paid my own way. These are the same struggles so many New Mexicans face today.

I am here because they persevered, and I think Native folks across the country recognize that they’re where they are because they persevered.

Her roots stretch across New Mexico, from growing up in Southern New Mexico to raising her family in Northern New Mexico, giving her a deep understanding of the people, communities, and diversity that define our state.

We’ve never had a Native American governor in New Mexico. I think representation matters, especially in a political era such as this one.
