Ben Ray Luján is an American politician serving as the junior United States senator from New Mexico since January 3, 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously represented New Mexico's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 to 2021. I cannot say how grateful I am, Chairman Lowenthal, for you and Chairman Grijalva and our Chairwoman, Debra Haaland, for coming to New Mexico.

How can Congress specifically support your efforts to stop methane emissions here in New Mexico and across the country?
Each of you has made the case that it is past time for Congress to act to protect the health and safety of our young people and our Earth.
I would say that this requires immediate action. Our changing planet affects our health, our food, our ecosystems, and our way of life, and we cannot wait for another generation to act.
In Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si, he stressed the importance of protecting our most vulnerable from the impacts of climate change.
I just hope that when we leave here today that it is not being suggested that this information is not going to be allowed to be brought into this committee.
the Trump administration has specifically disavowed ACA provisions that guarantee coverage and protect people with preexisting conditions.
It is imperative that we not compromise public safety in the name of being penny wise and pound foolish.
